Meet John Toutounchi
John Toutounchi is the founder and owner of Mirrored Memories NJ and a lifelong Freehold, New Jersey resident. His background in management, community service, volunteer work, and local leadership has shaped the way he runs Mirrored Memories today: with an emphasis on people, reliability, relationships, and giving back.
For John, Mirrored Memories has never been just about photo booths. It is an extension of the values that have guided much of his life in Freehold and Monmouth County: show up, take care of people, contribute where you can, and enjoy the moments that bring a community together.
Built in Freehold, Built Around Community
John was born and raised in Freehold and has maintained a strong connection to the community throughout his life. His involvement goes well beyond owning a local business. He has served as a volunteer firefighter, was elected to the Freehold Fire Commissioner board, and spent eight years serving as chairman.
That commitment to service is backed by more than 25 years of management experience. Over the years, John has learned how to lead people, make decisions, solve problems, and balance the needs of different groups while remaining accountable for the outcome.
Those lessons carry directly into Mirrored Memories NJ.
Years of leadership and volunteer service taught John that showing up, being dependable, solving problems, and taking responsibility matter. Those same principles influence how Mirrored Memories approaches every wedding, corporate event, school function, fundraiser, and private celebration.
John has also been clear that he wants community involvement to remain part of his life for as long as he can contribute. For him, Freehold isn't simply where he lives or where his business is based. It's home.
Why John Started Mirrored Memories NJ
John founded Mirrored Memories NJ in 2019 with a bigger goal than simply starting another event company.
He wanted the business to reflect the values he already tried to live by.
“One of the reasons I started the company was because I had a vision: I wanted to start a business that reflects my values and morals where I can still continue to give back and be a part of different charities and other organizations.”
That philosophy was influenced in part by John's experiences at fundraising events. He saw how naturally people gathered around photo booths and how quickly the experience could change the energy in a room.
People laughed. Families took pictures together. Kids got excited. Guests loosened up and interacted with one another.
John realized that a photo booth could be more than entertainment. At the right event, it could help create memories, bring people together, generate excitement around a fundraiser, support an organization's message, and give guests something personal to take away from the experience.
That became part of the foundation of Mirrored Memories.
The goal was to build a company that could create memorable experiences at weddings and celebrations while still making room for schools, charities, nonprofit organizations, fundraisers, and community events.

Giving Back Through Mirrored Memories
Mirrored Memories has used its place in the event industry to support organizations and causes that matter to John and the communities the company serves.
That involvement has included work with organizations such as Liv Like a Unicorn, the Frances Foundation, St. Jude, Common Ground Grief Center, and Embrace Kids Foundation, along with schools, fundraising events, and other community organizations.
Fundraisers are particularly meaningful to John because he gets to see the impact up close. Events like the Frances Foundation Gala and those supporting Liv Like a Unicorn have given him the opportunity to meet families, see people rally around an important cause, and watch organizations create support systems for people who need them.
As John has said:
“The reason I love what I do is making a positive impact on these events to raise funds, brand awareness and create memories for these families. I truly love what I do.”
Mirrored Memories also makes a point of supporting teachers, nurses, law enforcement, military members, first responders, schools, and other people and organizations that serve their communities.
For John, that work isn't separate from the business. It's part of what he wanted the business to make possible.
